White Super Tuscan: Why Not?

Malvasia

An ancient grape variety that is rich in aromas and flavours, recalling peach and tropical fruits. It’s clean and juicy, with a gentle touch of acidity.

Vermentino

Grapes are coming from the close coastal areas; it gives sapidity and saltiness to the wine.

Trebbiano

Lemon zest and a crisp acidity, to close the circle of aromas and saltiness. It balances the structure of the wine and gives the right fresh finish.

Philosophy

The choice of a white Monte Antico came after long thinking and experimenting with Chief Winamaker Franco Bernabei. And the idea to launch it exactly on the 50th anniversary of the brand came by itself.

The philosophy behind this wine, was to have a wine with the same characteristic of drinkability, freshness and affordability of the iconic red. We found the right producing areas, close to the Tuscan coast, and in order to match with the red we focussed on 3 iconic white varieties, such as Malvasia, Vermentino and Trebbiano.

Harvest takes place once the fruit reaches full ripeness between August and September, ensuring the best expression of natural fruit aromas.

Winemaking

Harvest takes place once the fruit reaches full ripeness between August and September, ensuring the best expression of its natural aromas. After gentle pressing, fermentation is carried out in stainless steel vats at low temperatures to preserve freshness and highlight the grape’s varietal character. A 10% of the wine is fermented in French oak vessels by 500 liters, medium toasted, for 90 days. After fermentation blend is made, allowing a few weeks of stabilization to make the wine rest and settle down.

Tasting Notes

A wine with vivacity, balance and complexity, with a good hint of aromaticity. Straw yellow color; with intense and fresh bouquet of white flowers, passion fruit, and secondary aromas coming from the ageing in French oak. On the palate it is soft but fresh and acidic in the beginning, smoothed down and rounded by a light touch of vanilla notes.
